Kids Say the Darndest Things...

So, it has been requested that I show a side view of my ever growing belly. I could have shown you something really special and gone for the bare belly, but I will save myself the embarrassment and the rest of you the wave of inevitable nausea. As it turns out, this belly is currently holding a BABY GIRL and a BABY BOY. This is now a certainty, and Travis has ended his phase of denial that there is another girl blessing our home. Our baby girl is weighing in at 4 pounds 1 ounce and our baby boy at 3 pounds 13 ounces. It was very obvious that they both have long legs, and that the little girl has hair! We also found it very interesting that the girl is head down and in position for go time. Her brother, on the other hand is comfortably positioned with his head under my right breast and his feet under my left. It is as though he finds the very top of my womb to be a very comfortable hammock.

I have to add a little side note about the picture which Annie took for me...

You may notice my hair looks a little different. Granted this was just before bed time at the end of a long day. Anyway, I curled it all over. Jacob was absolutely taken by the change, exclaiming "your hair is pretty!" numerous times throughout the day. When Chalice came to clean the house she too commented it was nice. Then, I went to the school to pick Annie up for the day and she opened the door and said, "Oh, hmm...I guess you decided not to get ready for the day today." I responded that I was ready, but I just did my hair a little different. Talk about one look saying it all--she was not crazy about the new do. I find her fashion opinions adorable.

I also thought I would throw in a couple of pictures from today and yesterday. Annie and Emma have been counting the days to the release of Hannah Montana's concert DVD which is in 3D. Here is Emma all set to watch. Annie was equally as cute, but refused a picture...

And here is Jake continuing to try and avoid boredom by thinking of off the wall things to try. I'll take this over frog chasing any day! Giddy-up!

Back to School

Starting school together...

A confident second grader...

Ready to ride the bus home with dad...
It is hard to believe summer is over and it is already time to go back to school. The girls are very excited about their teachers this year and were excited to go. Emma was really excited to join the ranks of elementary schoolers and especially to ride the bus home. However, Jake was disappointed not to have been able to join his sisters at school and particularly Emma on the bus ride home. He did find it appeasing to avoid boredom by chasing his mom with a frog. It was as though he was able to sense my anxiety, and before I knew it he was right on my big bellied tail exclaiming, "He's gonna get you!". Oh, Jake...you are so much like your dad!

For me, the first day of school is a sad one. This year the day came with mixed emotions, as it also marks one of our last milestones before the babies can safely arrive. It is almost unbelievable to think that in about a month we might finally be able to meet our yet to be named bundles of joy. Tomorrow we get to see them again at an ultra-sound appointment. It will be nice to confirm gender, see how big they are, and see how they are sitting.
